Advent
Four weeks set apart for contemplation and celebration of the birth of Jesus. As we look into the Advent season, our desire is to help you prepare your heart and mind for Christmas and lure you away, for a brief moment from the pace and distraction that often surrounds this season.
December 19th, The Giving of Love
Luke 2:11 - for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. This week we are looking at what was given for you - the Savior, who is Christ the Lord.
This is a supremely divine gift that staggers the imagination. In retrospect, we understand, this child conceived of the Holy Spirit and Born of a virgin, this child we celebrate and sing about, is born to die for us. What a thought; what a great demonstration of God’s love for us.
Romans 5:8-11 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him. For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. And not only this, but we also exult in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation.
The big picture is this great gift of His Love which impelled our Father into such a remarkable activity as to send us a gift that would realize His dream of having a family, where He calls us His people and we call Him our God.
Of all the carols, anthems or songs, the best ever penned was about this great gift of Love.
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.
Utterly amazing!!
